Costica Dumbrava is Policy Analyst at the European Parliament, European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS), working in the area of migration and home affairs. He was previously postoctoral researcher at Maastricht Unversity and the executive coordinator of the Maastricht Centre for Citizenship, Migration, and Development (MACIMIDE). He has a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute and MA degrees in European Union Studies (Leiden University) and in Nationalism Studies (Central European University).

Dumbrava's areas of expertise include migration, citizenship, integration, and citizenship & technology. His book entitled 'Nationality, Citizenship and Ethno-Cultural Belonging: Preferential Membership Policies in Europe' was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2014. He has also published articles in international journals, such as the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and Ethnic and Racial Studies, as well as a number book chapters, expert reports, and analyses.
